Glossary AB CD EF GH IJ KL MN OP QR ST UV WX YZ Ballistic Stretching Often called "bouncing". During this type of stretching, momentum is used (in short bursts) to bring the muscle to the limits of its stretching capability. As a result, the muscle will not have time for the muscle spindle reflex to relax. In addition, the short stretching bursts can cause shortening of the muscle due to over–stimulation of the muscle spindle reflex. |
